Apple, the Cupertino-based tech giant known for its innovative products, has recently made headlines with its foray into foldable smartphones. However, according to a new report from Korea, the launch of Apple's much-anticipated foldable iPhone has been delayed until 2027, pushing back earlier speculated timelines.

Reports suggest that Apple's shift towards foldable devices became apparent after the release of its first mixed-reality headset, the Vision Pro, last month. Engineers who were previously involved in the Vision Pro project have reportedly been reassigned to work on the development of foldable iPhones or iPads.

According to a report by Korean outlet AlphaBiz, citing a company executive familiar with the matter, the launch of the foldable iPhone has been postponed from the fourth quarter of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027. This adjustment in timeline is attributed to various factors, including the preparation for the supply of foldable displays.

Despite the delay in the launch timeline, major component manufacturers, including display suppliers like LG Display and Samsung Display, are expected to proceed according to the original schedule. Apple is rumored to be actively discussing supply orders with these suppliers, indicating its commitment to the foldable device project.

Apple's plans reportedly involve developing prototypes of at least two clamshell-style foldable iPhone models, although they are not slated for mass production in 2024 or 2025. The first foldable iPhone is rumored to feature a 6-inch external display and an 8-inch main display, offering users a versatile and immersive experience.

In addition to the foldable iPhone, Apple is said to be exploring the possibility of introducing a foldable iPad with a larger 20-inch display. The company has been actively filing patents related to foldable displays, signaling its dedication to pushing the boundaries of innovation in the smartphone and tablet markets.

While the delay in the launch of the foldable iPhone may disappoint some Apple enthusiasts, it underscores the company's commitment to ensuring the quality and readiness of its products before bringing them to market. As the tech industry eagerly awaits the arrival of Apple's foldable devices, the delay only adds to the anticipation surrounding these highly anticipated innovations.

As more details emerge and development progresses, Apple fans and industry analysts alike will undoubtedly be closely monitoring any updates regarding the company's foldable iPhone and iPad projects. Until then, speculation and anticipation continue to build as Apple prepares to embark on its next chapter of innovation in the world of mobile devices.
