The schools in the state are closed since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 so it will be difficult to conduct examinations for classes 1 to 7.

The decision of reopening of classes 1 to 7 is not taken yet but the state government has already decided to reopen the schools for the students from class 9 from March 1, 2021, According to the officials, the Jharkhand Education Project Council will be drafting strategies to promote the students without examinations. The final decision is yet to be taken by the Jharkhand state government.

Jharkhand's education department is planning for a baseline assessment of the students instead of conducting the exams.

The goals of the baseline assessment are:

  • The baseline assessment will help in understanding the status of the online classes for the students and help in identifying the students who have faced difficulties during the classes.
  • This assessment will help the schools to arrange special classes for the students for the first two-three months and the students will be able to learn the basics and essentials from the previous academic session.
